Hi! My name's Andrew and I'm a fish-a-holic. If you have the same addiction then maybe I can help ... by taking you fishing in New Zealands beatiful Bay Of Islands! I am captain of the good ship Anglers Anonymous specializing and specialize in Mechanical Jigging, Soft Baits, Salt Fly, and Big Game fishing. We also do everything else. Basically if it has fins and doesn't breath air it is fair game by whatever it is silly enough to try and eat!
Anglers Anonymous is an 8.86m (29 foot) heavily modified Craig Loomes designed and built tournament. Anglers Anonymous is legal to carry 9 passengers plus the captain. We have modified her extensively around the transom to make the best boat possible for sport fishing. Anglers Anonymous is completely walkaround and with no outboard motor on the back it is difficult to catch your line on anything but a fish. All fitting such as cleats are popups and non snag so that when a fish grabs a fly and the line is whipping around and out, you are unlikely to snag on anything - but your feet of course!
Anglers Anonymous has a toilet, carries 400 liters of diesel and 100 liters of water. There IS A KITCHEN SINK as well as 3 good sized berths, fresh water and salt water washdown facilities, good sized live bait tank, Furuno sounder, Lowrance Chartplotter, Tuna & mackeral tubes, 7 rack rocket laucher and 16 rack rod holders around the central bait station. Anglers Anonymous has a bimini for it it rains or for sun block and the bimini is designed to still take maximum advantage of the walkaround design while fighting fish - it is supported off the central bait station and not off the gunnells.
Amongst the many safety features required by survey such as lifejackets for 10 people, we have an addition 6 childrens lifejackets in varying sizes, flares, 406MHz Epirb, VHF, and additionally a 4 man liferaft which is not requied for survey and is set to auto inflate if the boat were to sink more than 1.5m below the surface. All of the adult lifejactes can be auto or manually inflated and customers often choose to fish in these are they are completely unobtrusive and make life a lot easier if you do get pulled over the side by a big one.
Often we require an additional boat or two for our charters, particularly with larger corporate groups. We choose to work in closely with two other operators that suit our way of thinking which is that the fishing is only part of it and having a great time out on the water is primary
Primarily based out of Oakura Bay south of Cape Brett but also launching at Russell is the Jovial Justin Smith from Oakura Bay Fish Dive & Cruise. Justin has a great attitude and like us can carry 9 passengers in addition to himself in his 6.8m hard top Aluminium boat "Toroa". With Justin we offer the capability to provide packages including accommdation, food and everything else for groups of up to 18 fisherman staying at the sandy beach of Oakura Bay. This a great options for corporate groups and groups wanting to get together for a once a year fishing tournament between themselves or the two boats. Being at Oakura Bay their is safe swimming and snorkelling 90% of the time and a completely different atmosphere to staying at Paihia or Russell. Oakura is a kind of out of the way place but is the same driving time from Auckland as Paihia - on the road through to Russell.
